Rhododendron 'Morning Cloud' Yakushimanum Hybrid

This award-winning Rhododendron produces dark pink buds which erupted in late spring to reveal large, trumpet-like blooms flushed with pink, with a yellow-green throat. Rhododendron 'Morning Cloud’ is ideal for growing in containers in limited growing spaces such as terraces and courtyards, as well as small gardens with lime-free soil. Yakushimanum Rhododendrons are fully hardy, cope well in full sun, have a rounded, compact habit and are slow-growing, staying small for many years. Although small, they are reliably floriferous, boasting large, showy blooms. They are also renowned for their good health - partly due to the silvery hairs that cover the foliage, providing a barrier against diseases and pests. All of these qualities make Yakushimanum rhododendrons very desirable! This beautiful Rhododendron infuses charm into shaded corners of the garden or areas around the house. It is compact enough to grow in a large container or plant in a small garden border with lime-free soil. Its dense evergreen foliage provides interest throughout the year whilst its vibrant, eye-catching flowers create a superb spring display, brightening areas in sun or shade. Growing Information

Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
