Can you grow soft fruit in a container?

Many soft fruits are suitable for growing in containers, including limes, strawberries, figs and blueberries. Our Grape Pixie Collection, Raspberry ‘Little Sweet Sister’ Blackberry ‘Opal’ and Blackcurrant ‘Summer Pearls Patio Black’ are all bred to be compact and suitable for containers.

How do you look after soft fruit?

The secret to bountiful crops is good soil preparation with plenty of organic matter added to the planting hole or container, an annual mulch and making sure plants have enough water while fruits are swelling. You’ll also need to protect most fruit from birds with netting or a fruit cage.

Which soft fruit is best in the British climate?

Rhubarb, strawberries, blackberries, gooseberries and raspberries have long been successfully grown in the UK. Peaches, nectarines, grapes and figs grow happily in Britain, and benefit from a sheltered, sunny position.
