Crocus 'Yellow Mammoth' bears large, golden yellow, goblet-shaped flowers that make an eye-catching display as they sparkle in the spring sunshine. Flowering from late February to late March, these Dutch crocus follow on from the smaller Crocus varieties such as Crocus tommasinianus. The blooms are rich in pollen and nectar, attracting foraging bees early in the season when food is scarce.

A strong grower, Crocus ‘Yellow Mammoth’ is especially well suited to planting in swathes through lawns, in rough grass and beneath deciduous trees and shrubs. They are perfect for filling gaps in the front of the border with much needed colour after the winter months whilst you are waiting for later spring bulbs and perennials to emerge. Alternatively, use them to fill shallow containers and bring early colour near the house. Height: 10cm (4"). Spread: 5cm (2").

Growing Information

Grow crocus in any well drained garden soil in sun or semi shade. Spring flowering crocus bulbs should be planted during the autumn, in large clumps at a depth of 10cm (4") and at a distance of 7cm (3") apart. Alternatively grow them in containers or naturalised in grass.

While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.
